Deep learning is often taught as a sanitized collection of facts and math. But work at the frontier of AI is messy and empirical. Our new class, Deep Learning Alchemy, aims to teach the art and science of deep learning in the hands-on spirit of Language Modeling From Scratch. Students build intuition by running experiments on small LMs, then test it through prediction quizzes: given an unseen code diff, can you predict what happens? https://deep-learning-alchemy.github.io/ My co-instructor @kothasuhas and I think there's significant demand for classes that treat students as serious learners who want to be assessed for what they’ve learned, and so we're trying a new exam-heavy approach to the class (7 exams, 85% of the grade, with the remaining 15% in-person discussion assessments). We’ve designed the class so students can use AI agents to run their experiments and do their assignment, but they then have to demonstrate that mastery on exams without access to the assignment, and any partial credit on the exam has to come through citations to the assignment, incentivizing them to know what’s in their write-up. The same assignments and quizzes are public for anyone to try (lecture recordings will be released through @StanfordOnline with some delay). We have some very fun assignments and quizzes covering both classic topics (like NQM, run-to-run stochasticity, and scaling laws) and new and timely topics like muP or hyperball. Made by some real experts like @TristanThrush and @wen_kaiyue Try some quizzes below!

Astra's turn: "Make a game about Imminence. Something very big, very strange is happening. A suburb & the arrival of a vast & unknowable presence. Not horror, invoke the feeling of the end of all things coming, inevitably, but also not sad or scary" Here: https://imminence-afternoon.netlify.app/

New on our Engineering blog: Creating in-house source control. In May, we merged around 2,500 code changes per day. In September, we merged more than 30,000 per day. As a result, we became bottlenecked by developer infrastructure built for human (rather than agent) scale. Here, we share how we built a new version control system—and fully migrated our monorepo from git—in five months: https://www.anthropic.com/engineering/redesigning-source-control

Just made "Explainer Video Bot"... It will help you understand any topic visually by making a video It just made me an incredible video for me explaining how SpaceX safely manages the world's largest satellite constellation and shares its space-safety data with other satellite operators for FREE The video explains everything in amazing detail, yet it's so easy to understand.....even for someone who knows absolutely nothing about Starlink And the entire video was created by Grok Bot.......from the storytelling to the visuals and animations I loved it so much that I turned it into a reusable template anyone can try Here's the template: https://x.ai/bot/eTLAqnD45kW3h-THwU8XM

Grok @Bot

    引用SCOTTY BEAM@ScottyBeamIO

THAT'S F*CKING INSANE, GROK BOT JUST PLANNED MY TRIP TO LISBON AND BOOKED IT WITH MY CARD. I ONLY HAD TO ASK. IT HANDLED THE RESEARCH AND THE BOOKINGS. Elon Musk recently used Grok Bot to buy LEGO for his kids. That made me want to test something bigger: whether it could fully plan, research, and book my trip to Lisbon on its own. Grok Bot searched for travel options, compared prices, and booked what I needed using my card and the details I provided. Here’s what it handled: → Researched options for my Lisbon trip. → Compared prices and picked the best-priced options it found for my request. → Completed the bookings using my travel and payment details. My trip was booked. Think about how much time usually goes into this: searching, comparing options, checking availability, and filling out booking forms. This time, I gave that job to Grok Bot. That’s what makes this interesting to me. A task that normally takes my time and attention ended with real bookings after I asked an agent to handle it. Now I want to see what else I can take off my to-do list. I covered the latest major Grok Bot updates and more ways to use them in my article below. Bookmark this and read the full breakdown ↓

This is how we built the filesystem behind Perplexity Projects as a Git forge for agents. Each agent works in its own sandbox and commits to a shared repository where people and other agents can build on its work across sessions. 6. lauren52

the slop conversation is so one sided, it's not just that you can produce more code you can also observe, debug, and refactor more code even if the code is slop you have such good tools to deal with it. even if you write code manually, it's still 100x easier to maintain it
