Amazon has blocked Meta's new AI agent Muse from shopping on Amazon.com. GeekWire reports that Meta turned the agent loose on the platform without any agreement in place. According to Amazon, Muse doesn't identify itself as an AI while browsing and appears to store customer data, which creates security risks.

Users now see a warning that access by an unauthorized AI agent violates Amazon's terms of service. Meta had said earlier that Muse has no access to passwords or payment details.

The clash is part of a bigger fight over AI-driven shopping. Amazon has already moved against shopping agents from Perplexity, Google, and OpenAI. As with Perplexity, though, both companies remain business partners. In April, Meta signed a billion-dollar deal for Amazon's cloud chips. Muse launched on September 8 and became the most-downloaded free app in the US App Store within a week.
