We will start by operating the vehicles manually, beginning with mapping and validation driving. As we’ve done in other cities, we’ll take a phased approach as we scale. After a period of manual driving, we’ll begin autonomous driving with trained, local autonomous specialists behind the wheel, before moving to fully autonomous operations. We will work closely with the Ministry of Transport, the Land Transport Authority, and other local authorities to secure necessary approvals, and keep the public up to date as our operations progress. We will be driving day and night and intend to initially manually drive and map all regions of Singapore, to collect the necessary data for Waymo to seek Land Transport Authority approval for our autonomous driving system in 2027 When we begin operations, we will still be in preparation mode with autonomous specialists behind the wheel who will be manually driving.
