Nobel committee: stop overhyping the "AI works like the brain" story.

At the announcement today of the 2026 Nobel Prize in Medicine, awarded to 3 scientists working on the mechanisms the brain uses to switch on, or off, the activity of individual nerve cells.

A reporter asked whether the prize-winning brain research could help explain what happens inside AI neural networks.

The panel answered:

"Probably the similarities between the neural networks used in AI and the human brain shouldn't be exaggerated."
